The final flourishes are being made to the programme for the 31st National Equine Forum (NEF23), to be held at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), London on Thursday 2nd March 2023, and it’s looking set to be an outstanding highlight for the equine sector.
The stimulating programme, which will also be livestreamed, will deliver the NEF’s usual first-class mix of topics covering industry advancements in science, health, welfare and sport. An exceptional cast of speakers comprises government ministers, leading vets and industry professionals.
A full day of sessions will incorporate the Equine Industry in a changing world; opportunities and challenges for the future of the sector; learning theory; and the roles and responsibilities of influencers.
Tim Brigstocke, Chairman of the NEF said: “The diverse and engaging content of this year’s programme, together with the calibre of our speakers suggest that NEF23 is going to be one of our most outstanding events to date. We hope you will be able to join us either in person or via the livestream to enjoy a day of equestrian discussion and debate.”
The Equine Industry in a Changing World will include contributions from the government and key industry figures.
Equine health will look at current equine disease threats in the UK and management strategies.
Learning theory will explore the science behind how horses and humans learn, why horses behave in the way they do and what to do with ‘undesirable behaviours’, with perspectives from an equine behaviourist, a social scientist and a horse owner.
The roles and responsibilities of influencers will involve representatives from leading equestrian print, online and social media discussing the role of the media within the horse sector.
The day will close with the announcement of the Sir Colin Spedding Award 2023 winner.
Q&A opportunities have been built in at the end of all the main sessions to give the audience and the livestream viewers a chance to engage with the discussions. Questions can be submitted quickly and easily via Slido from 27 February 2023.
